Opening of Lady Liberty Academy Charter School

December 18, 2014

LAN is proud to have been involved in another successful project with Build With Purpose on the opening of a new charter school in Newark, New Jersey. The building, which includes a newly constructed 18,000 square foot middle school, a renovated elementary school, a gym, and a new courtyard, enabled Lady Liberty Academy Charter School to return to Newark this school year after spending two years in a temporary location in Harrison.

LAN’s involvement began in 2012, when we performed an environmental assessment, known as a Preliminary Assessment, for the property in Newark. Preliminary Assessments are required for new educational facilities and child care centers in New Jersey. At that time, the property consisted of an empty former Catholic school building.

Build with Purpose, a national leader in charter school facility development, then secured a long term lease for the property, and spent the next two years developing the site into the beautiful new school facility that you see today. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the facility on October 22, 2014.

In addition to the Preliminary Assessment, LAN also performed an Indoor Environmental Health Assessment and indoor air quality sampling at the site, as required by the New Jersey Department of Health for many educational facilities and day care centers.

LAN is honored to have been part of a project that resulted in a new school facility where nearly 500 children can receive a quality education.
